Handy Backup is a file backup service. The client can be run as a Windows Service using FireDaemon Pro, so you can have the application start automatically at boot prior to login, start multiple instances of the application and more. This HOWTO will show you how to set up Handy Backup with FireDaemon. You can also use Fusion to manage FireDaemon and other Windows services via a web browser.

Handy Backup Setup Under FireDaemon Pro

Download Handy Backup from the official website here.

Install Handy Backup. By default, the software installs to C:\Program Files\Novosoft\Handy Backup.

Run Handy Backup at least once to configure your backups. Be sure to visit the Handy Backup settings to uncheck the option to start the program on Windows start.

Install FireDaemon Pro into the directory of your choice, typically C:\Program Files\FireDaemon. Download FireDaemon Pro from here.

Next start the FireDaemon GUI from the desktop shortcut. Click on the "Create a new service definition" button in the toolbar (or type Ctrl+N) and enter the information into the fields as you see below. Adjust paths to suit your installation. Note that parameters are not needed here.

Now click on the Settings tab. If you DON'T want to see Handy Backup running, uncheck the Interact with Desktop check box & select "Hidden" from the "Show Window" dropdown. You must run Handy Backup as the user you installed it as. In the Logon Account field type your username (e.g. Administrator) and then enter the user's password twice in the Password and Confirm fields. You can change the Process Priority to allocate more CPU time to Handy Backup or specify which CPU or core that Handy Backup will run on (in the case of multi-processor, hyperthreaded or multi-core CPUs).

Now click OK to finish setup and start Handy Backup!

Note: If you are using Handy Backup during the trial period, you may have to enter Session 0 to remove the trial period dialog and continue using Handy Backup normally.
